Journal History

The Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy is the official English-language journal of The Indonesian Society of Gastroenterology, Indonesian Association for the Study of the Liver and The Indonesian Society for Digestive Endoscopy (ISG-Ina ASL-ISDE). It is a scientific medical journal, which has been published since 1995 and originally called as Indonesian Forum of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy. Following the improvement of journal management system in 2000, the name has been changed into The Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy with print ISSN 1411-4801 and online ISSN 2302-8181 and the first issue was published in the end of the year 2000. 
        The journal publishes peer-reviewed original articles and review articles as well as case reports in every issue with regular schedule of release of 3 (three) times a year, i.e. in April, August and December. Since December 2000 until now, The Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy has published 36 regular issues and two supplement issues containing abstracts of symposium of the year 2002 and 2003. Articles that have been published inThe Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy are written by Professors, Doctors or Consultants in Gastroentero-hepatology field, Internists, Paediatricians, Anatomical Pathologists, Clinical Pathologists, and Residents in Internal Medicine/Paediatrics/Anatomical Pathology/Clinical Pathology from various Medical Faculties in Indonesia. Some authors of overseas hospitals/Medical Faculties also have their contribution (e.g. authors from Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Philipina, USA, Japan, UK, Pakistan, Egypt and Bangladesh). 
        As one of scientific medical journals in Indonesia, The Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy has committed to improve the quality of editing and management of publishing journals according to the prevailing and most up-to-date advances. The Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopyhas received 3 (three) times accreditation from the Directorate of Development and Community Services, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education, Republic of Indonesia with rank A of accreditation in 2005 and rank B in 2008 and 2012. 
        In 2009 The Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy as a well-established and accredited scientific medical journal has also been advocated as the leading and guiding journal (Jurnal Pembina dan Pengembang) in general health sector for other 11 non-accredited scientific medical journals by Directorate of Development and Community Services, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education Republic of Indonesia. In the same year, The Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopyhas also received invitation to present its proposal on The Funding Program for Accredited Domestic Journal into the International Journal (Program Bantuan Jurnal Domestik Terakreditasi Menjadi Jurnal Internasional), and it has succeeded to achieve sponsorship for internationalizing journals phase I from Directorate of Development and Community Services, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education. 
        We expect that through endeavor of internationalizing the journal, the scientific papers of gastroenterology, hepatology, and digestive endoscopy field in Indonesia which has been published inThe Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy may become more acknowledged and may be used as references by international communities. We hope that in the future the The Indonesian Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Digestive Endoscopy could be soon listed in current content.
